EVAPORATOR COIL FOR AIR HANDLING UNIT (AHU) REFRIGRANT/FREON is the main component in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system that functions to cool the air that is circulated into the room.
Evaporator coils are pipes that are usually made of copper and coated with aluminum fins, and placed inside the AHU unit. Inside this coil flows cold refrigerant (usually R-134a, R-410A, etc.). When hot air from the room passes through the coil:
Hot air comes into contact with the coil surface.
The heat from the air is absorbed by the refrigerant, so that the air becomes cold.
The cold air is circulated back into the room by the AHU blower.
Main Functions of the Evaporator Coil in AHU:
Air cooling: Lowering the temperature of the air supplied to the room.
Dehumidification: Reducing air humidity when condensation occurs on the coil surface.
Clean air circulation: Air passing through the filter and coil is filtered and cooled before re-entering the room.
Common Applications:
Office buildings
Hospitals
Malls
Factories or industrial facilities
Hotels and other commercial buildings
